Response to their nuptials

When Paul told me Linda had agreed to marry him my immediate reaction was to ask if there were any firearms involved. “No,” he said. Hypnosis, I wondered. No, apparently she was in sound mind and implausibly wanted to marry him as much as he wanted to marry her.

I was as surprised as anyone when I heard that Paul got engaged to Linda. Oh, not for the normal reasons, I always knew that Paul was the marriage type and that he would someday find the woman that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. I was just surprised that that woman would want to spend the rest of her life with him!
