Opening lines

Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen. I think you’ll all agree that it’s been a wonderful wedding so far. Everyone’s played their part in making this the perfect day for Paul and Linda, and now finally here’s my chance to lower the tone.

Afternoon everybody. My name is Josh and I am the Best Man. I'm supposed to begin this speech with an icebreaker, but given the clement weather I fear the ice has already melted. And yes, that does explain those big wet patches under my arms.

Hello! Wasn't that a wonderful speech by Peter there. Honestly, with all that emotion I was taken aback. Ironically that's what happened to him on his stag do; the strippers took him to aback room and we didn't see him for half an hour. More of that later.
