Throughout our friendship, whenever one of us wanted to do something really unwise the other was there to dissuade them. When Paul wanted to jump off the garage roof with only an umbrella, I talked him out of it. When Paul wanted to wear the powder blue tuxedo to our senior prom, I talked him out of it. And when Paul wanted to drill a hole in the wall of the girls' locker room...well, we both pretty much agreed on that one. But then, one day, a few years ago, Paul announced that he wanted to ask Linda on a date. I did not try to talk him out of it. Not for a second.
