Military buddy

In the military, we always speak of all kinds of missions. As best man today, I have tried to get through my duties without causing serious injury to anyone. By the end of this speech, I’ll let you decide if we can finally call my mission complete. For Paul and Linda though, your mission in life has truly just begun.

I met Mike during my first tour of duty in Afghanistan. We spent the better part of two years together over there. Although our friendship doesn’t extend back to when we were kids, or even to our college days, military time is unique. Two years of camaraderie during active service, depending on one another for support, translates into a lifelong friendship in civilian terms.
